The Plane, Coordinates, and Colors

Intro

This week we’ll start thinking about drawing the way the computer does: in terms of x/y coordinates, dimensions, and layering.

Sync Up

• Slack & Glitch & Github check-in
• Look over your Lo-to-Hi Def interpretations of your source artwork
• A survey of CSS positioning and colors

Activities

• Review git commands
• Learn about branching and pull requests in git
• Read about how CSS handles geometry and color:
  • Colors
  • Opacity
  • Dimensions
  • Transforms (and in particualar rotation)
  • Position (though this week we’ll exclusively be using position: absolute)

Assignment

• Create an HTML & CSS version of each of your 8, 16, 32, and 64 shape compositions
  • Due date: 9/17 by 6 a.m. EDT
  • Format: A glitch project with CSS-based versions of your compositions in the four numbered folders
  • How to submit: Paste the link to your glitch project into this form
